Most restaurants are closed both days. Those that do open are overwhelmed with customers and short of staff. Think about it: if you were one of the best chefs, waiters, and managers, would you work on Christmas? Many restaurants are open, however, for various reasons. The most reliable among them are the hotel restaurants, which must be open. A very small percentage of the independent restaurants are open. In almost every case, the restaurants will depart from their standard menus on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Here's a list of all the restaurants I've found so far that will be open for those days. I'll update the list as I get more information; check back if you're still looking. Many restaurants book up the 1-3 p.m. seatings. So be ready to take another time. Reveillon Dinners Here's a list of the restaurants offering Reveillon dinners this year, along with the menus for those dinners. The Reveillon is an old New Orleans holiday tradition, and in this revived version of it (which itself has been going on the better part of twenty years), the restaurants and chefs put together feasts of holiday food at (mostly) attractive prices. I find these dinners delightful, and strongly recommend that you try one or two of them, at least. (I'm going to at least six.)
