Beck 'n' Call is a popular
breakfast and lunch spot across from the new St. Tammany Parish
Courthouse in old Covington. In a great old building that turns out to
be much bigger than it looks from the outside, they prepare first-class
poor boys, interesting and delicious homemade soups, and daily plate
specials. It's good and inexpensive enough that some days there's a
continuous line out the door for hours. Menu Updated April 2006. New Orleans style poboys, Great burgers, Salads & Wraps
- all made to order when you get here! Homemade soups & daily
lunch specials, for example:
Monday - red or white beans, sausage or pork chop, side
salad.
Tuesday - lasagna, green beans, garlic bread.
Wednesday - Meat loaf or beef brisket, mashed potatoes &
gravy, peas and corn.
Thursday - fried chicken tenders, mashed potatoes &
gravy, veggies.
Friday - fried catfish, crawfish etoufee, or crawfish Eddie
(blackened catfish with etoufee on top), with sides.
These may change slightly but it is all delicious!
We also have such homemade desserts as cobbler and bread
pudding with either white chocolate sauce or praline cream cheese sauce.
