The Embers Steak House has been a fixture on the corner of Bourbon and St. Peter for decades, and even New Orleanians who have never been there to dine know it from its distinctive open grill in a window viewable from the sidewalk. It dining rooms on two floors are a surprise to those who actually filter into the place, however, with a menu covering a broad range of New Orleans cooking including no small amount of seafood. The view from the second floor balcony tables is of the legth of Bourbon Street, from what is its most colorful and busiest corner.
