They're certainly the busiest. Great variety and quality, especially of seafood. 2. Cafe East. 4628 Rye. 888-0078. Chinese. The city's most adventuresome Chinese restaurant opened with an almost complete menu weeks ago. 3. Sake Cafe. Three locations, all open: 4201 Veterans Blvd. 779-7253. Also 817 W Esplanade Ave. 468-8829. And Sake Cafe. 2830 Magazine. 894-0033. Japanese. The grandest of the Japanese restaurants around here, with extensive menus and much originality. 4. La Thai Cuisine. 933 Metairie Road. 828-3080. Thai. The last and best restaurant of the Semiesuke family, with some Creole-Thai fusion here and there. 5. Tan Dinh. 2004 Belle Chasse Highway. 361-8008. Vietnamese. Vietnamese mostly, but more than a few other ideas. 6. Shogun. 2325 Veterans Blvd. 833-7477. Japanese. The city's first sushi bar, back open after extensive cleanup and renovation. 7. Little Tokyo. 1521 N. Causeway Blvd. 831-6788. Also 590 Asbury Dr., Mandeville. 727-1532. Sushi. Japanese. Two very different but equally excellent and consistent sushi places. 8. Korea House. 3547 18th. 888-0654. Korean. Very adventuresome and very ethnic. Delicious, too. 9. Royal China. 600 Veterans Blvd. 831-9633. Chinese. A great menu in a tiny place, with dim sum too. 10. Hoa Hong 9 Roses. 1100 Stephens. 366-7665. Vietnamese.
