By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published September 15, 2008 Finale In This Summer's Series Of World Wine Dinners Spanish Wine Dinner This Friday At Antoine's Through the summer, Antoine's offered a series of dinners featuring wines from around the world. The last in the series spotlights the wines of Spain, this Friday, September 19. The first two were good enough that I've asked them to reserve a table for you and me. It's going to be held in the Twelfth Night Revelers Room, just upstairs from the front dining room in the old establishment. It was renovated into a dining room only in the last few years, and its a unique place to dine--like the drawing room in a mansion, but with a collection of Carnival memorabilia from the namesake krewe. The price is $75, inclusive of wines, tax, and tips. I don't know which wines will be served yet, but that's the way it was last time, too, and the choices wound up better than I expected. Passed Appetizers Soufflé Potatoes Shrimp Canapés Shrimp Ravigote Shrimp cooked in a white wine bechamel sauce Oysters en Brochette Bacon-wrapped oysters with a brown butter Sautéed Veal with Mushrooms With chorizo and hollandaise Tres Leches Cake With raspberry and chocolate To reserve, call Antoine's directly at 581-4422. If you'd like to join me at the Eat Club table, tell them you'd like to be seated with Tom Fitzmorris. As I always do at Antoine's, events, I will lead a tour of the restaurant before, during, or after the dinner. The restaurant is validating parking this month; ask them for details when you reserve. © 2008 Tom Fitzmorris. All rights reserved. news@nomenu.com |
