By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published July 19, 2008 Tomorrow, July 25; Five Courses, $75 Organic Wine Dinner At Antoine's Organic wine? Quite a lot of it is being produced now. One of the leaders in the field is Bonterra which--if memory serves me--was the first organic wine I ever ran into, about fifteen years ago. I liked the menu enough to propose that the Eat Club (you're now a member, because you're reading these words) take over a table or two or three for this dinner. It's going to be held in the Twelfth Night Revelers Room, just upstairs from the front dining room in the old establishment. It was renovated into a dining room only in the last few years, and although I've visited it I've never dined in there. Should be charming. Here's the menu. The wines will cover the entire line of Bonterra wines. Shrimp Cake Like a crab cake, but with Louisiana shrimp. Served on a fried green tomato with a Creole horseradish sauce Oyster Stew Oysters cooked in Creole-seasoned rich broth of milk and oyster liquor Raspberry Ice With Mint Trout With Shrimp Etouffee Pan-broiled Louisiana speckled trout topped with dark-roux shrimp etouffee Strawberries With Kirsch Fresh Louisiana strawberries marinated in fresh mint, sugar and kirsch Antoine’s Dark French Roast Coffee The price is $75, inclusive of tax, tip, and wine. If you'd like to attend, call Antoine's directly at 504-581-4422. Tell them you'd like to be seated at Tom Fitzmorris's table (unless you'd rather not). Then e-mail me (tom@nomenu.com) so I'll know how many places to set. See you there! © 2008 Tom Fitzmorris. All rights reserved. news@nomenu.com |
