However, the winery has always had a certain number of extraordinarily good special bottlings, drawing on its tremendous vineyard resources. They own some of the best land in Napa, and their winemaker Ed Sbragia seems to increase his portfolio of special bottlings each year. They're going to show off plenty of those on April 23 at Dickie Brennan's Steak House. It's $95, plus tax and tip (that sounds like around $125 to me). The menu speks for itself, I'd say: Artichoke and crab tartlets with Louisiana caviar Beringer 2005 Alluvium Blanc Soft-shell Crab Salad Fried soft-shell crab on a bed of micro greens with a lemon truffle vinaigrette Beringer 2005 Sbragia Limited Release Chardonnay, Napa Valley Rack of Lamb Grilled rack of lamb with fresh English peas, teardrop tomatoes and a rosemary lamb demi-glace Beringer 2002 Marston Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Pan-seared Duck Duck breast accompanied by a peach and mango chutney, served with duck confit and mashed potatoes Beringer 2002 St. Helena Home Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Filet Mignon and Lobster Broiled filet served with a foie gras beurre blanc finished with lobster tail meat Beringer 2002 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Wine-Poached Pear and Mascarpone Mousse Beringer 2002 Nightingale To make reservations for this dinner, call 521-8310.
