By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published October 1, 2008 Brunch At Gallier Hall, Sunday, October 19 Feast With The Stars For Parkway Partners For a whole bunch of autumns, Parkway Partners has organized a delighful Sunday brunch as a fundraiser for its efforts to replant and beautify the city's streetsides, neutral grounds, and small parks. It hardly needs to be said that we need more of that these days than we did three years ago--but it was urgent even then. The Feast With The Stars has food--traditionally been provided by big hotel kitchens. (Although many major independent restaurants will be there.) The people who serve you are well-known folks from many endeavors, but media people predominate--lots of television folks. I have been part of the program for twelve years running. I wouldn't miss it. Some of the stars decorate birdhouses, which are then auctioned off, along with many other collectables, dinners, and other goodies. A jazz band plays throughout the whole party. The event goes on at Gallier Hall, which sets up well for things like this. Lots of tables at which to sit and eat. (And drink: the price includes an open bar.) On your way out, you can pick up a complimentary plant or two for your garden, from the greenhouses of the Parkway and Parks Commission. The Feast With The Stars this year is Sunday, October 19, 11:30 a.m. till 2 p.m. The price is $75; they also have whole tables for groups at special prices. More information can be had from their website, which leads you to the place where you can reserve tickets. And I hope to see you there. This is always a fun event. Something new this year: an online silent auction. It's active even as you read this. Quite a few culinary packages, ready for near-stealing. Click here for the auction. © 2008 Tom Fitzmorris.
