It opened briefly in a very limited way a few weeks after the storm, then closed. For the past month or two, he has been serving private parties at the restaurant, but not a la carte patrons. "We should be open in two or three weeks," he said. "I've been holding back, taking it a little easy. I don't have the staff I need, and until that happens it will be tough to open." Of course, until a restaurant opens its staff doesn't come back. Waiters, for example, find other places to work. "I've talked to a bunch of them and my kitchen staff, and they're ready, Barreca says. Whether the early-evening specials, (which Barreca's introduced to the New Orleans area) will return right away remains to be seen. © 2006 Tom Fitzmorris. All rights reserved. news@nomenu.com |
