Begue's Has Sunday Brunch, Christmas Week Lunches
Begue's, the pretty restaurant along the courtyard at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, will be back to work this Sunday with its Sunday brunch buffet. That's a very welcome service, since so few brunches are in operation right now.

Begue's was the original New Orleans Sunday brunch buffet, mounted every week since 1970. A few years later, it started another tradition with its Friday seafood lunch buffet. That's not quite back yet (nor is any other lunch service), but in the week before Christmas they'll serve the lunch buffet Monday through Friday. That's been a busy time for them in past years, and will no doubt be even more so this year.

The plan is for dinner to start up Tuesdays through Saturdays, beginning December 13. Unfortunately, they won't be offering the Reveillon menu as they have in past years.

But here may be the most in-demand service of all: they'll be open for brunch on Christmas Day. Begue's will be one of very few places to dine out this Christmas, and it will no doubt sell out quickly. I've received several messages a day lately asking where one might have a Christmas brunch; the demand greatly outweighs the supply.
