Dinner In Boston, Anyone?

I received the following press release (the first page of which I reproduce unedited) this morning:

BOSTON, MA (August 9, 2006) - Boston’s Leather District is quietly becoming one of the most desirable destinations for dining and lounging in the city with the addition of Boston’s newest restaurant/lounge, DISTRICT.  Since opening in mid June of this year, District has seen a steady clientele flow through the doors eager to experience a visual, cultural, and culinary feast.

Designed by John Stefanon of JFS Design Studios, the interior of District is the ultimate conversation piece featuring birch tree trunks along the walls inspired by Dante’s “Inferno”, intense floral patterns hand painted on circular ceiling panels, white vinyl booths inspired by the freewheeling 1960’s, and giant 10-inch nails placed in spiky patterns throughout the room. Stefanon describes his creation by saying, “I like to do things with the design that will start conversations. I like to imagine that people are on a date trying to figure out why there are these menacing, giant nails all around them.”

Christopher Muther of the Boston Globe writes, “The final look of District eludes a simple descriptive soundbite.  The space is filled with dueling elements: black versus white, nature versus technology, and safe versus dangerous.

Chef Andy Brown, formerly the sous chef at Pigalle, has created the ideal menu for this comfortable lounge setting.  Intending to produce a social atmosphere conducive to group interaction, Andy is encouraging his guests to share plates by offering a wide selection of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches.

Managing partner Igor Blatnik sums up the District experience, “This is a place for when you’ve finished work, you want to come with your friends, have a cocktail, order three or four tapas, and have a laugh. We’re going for a cozy atmosphere that encourages sharing.  Cozy, clean, risqué, and warm at the same time.”

Darn. I lost that reservation number.
