Boule Prime House. You could drive by it a bunch of times and not realize it is what it is, but that building athwart the left bank of the Abita River just off Causeway Boulevard in Covington is Boule Prime House. After a party for friends on Friday, March 31, it opens today, April 3, for dinner. Boule formerly occupied the space where the new Acme Oyster House is now, and closed well before the hurricane while its new building was being put together.

The reason it's hard to sport is its confusing signage. Both a gourmet shop attached to the restaurant and a bar with its own name are announced on the marquee, with the bar's advertising being most obvious. The bar was always the most active part of the establishment, with live music and a regular crowd of local businessmen and politicians. The steaks were prime beef, generally very good, and quite expensive. The menu went on to include a great many other things of lesser interest. But that was the old place. This edition will probably be a bit different.
