Brigtsen's Reopens
After a three-month semi-vacation, mostly in Shreveport, Frank and Marna Brigtsen have removed the plywood from the windows of their cottage-turned-restaurant on Dante Street. Few things looked as gloomy as that place boarded up, and it's great to have them back.

Brigtsen's was the subject of a disheartening rumor that circulated shortly after the storm, to the effect that the Brigtsens had relocated permanently to Shreveport. Despite the total lack of believability of such a myth, it was widely repeated until Frank put the word out otherwise.

When I talked to Frank an hour before opening, he told me that they were picking up right wherte they left off: with a daily changing menu of Louisiana cooking based on fresh local products. They said the reservation book was filled for days, all with familiar names.

I spoke to one of those a few days after opening night. He said that the place was jammed with customers, reservationss were running late (because nobody wanted to leave), and the atmosphere was one of great camaraderie. And the food was delicious. 723 Dante, 861-7610.
