Carmelo's Annual Halloween Wine Dinner For a number of years Carmelo Chirico--the owner of the French Quarter Italian restaurant that bears his name, and a connoisseur of Italian wines--has held a wild and delicious wine dinner on Halloween. And here it is again. It's a major menu with serious wines from the old house of Antinori. That's the only part that's serious, though. Costunes are strongly recommended (but not required). It's this Friday, October 31 (in case it's been too long since you last thought about Halloween), and will begin at 8 p.m. in the marvelous wine room on the third floor of the restaurant. The price is $95 per person, plus tax and tip--so about $125. At the end of the evening, wines will be raffled off; I think that may be part of the price, but I'm not sure. Here's the menu: Slow Roasted Suckling Pig Wine: Conte Della Vipera Fresh Mozzarella Ovolini Ovolini Mozzarella with roasted peppers, and prosciutto Wine: Vermentino Orecchiette Alla Genovese Orecchiette pasta with Louisiana shrimp, tossed in a pesto sauce Wine: Bramito Del Cervo Insalata Dell’ Oorto Grilled radicchio with roasted pine nuts, with a reduced balsamic vinegar Wine: Villa Toscana Rosso 2005 Osso Buco Braised veal shanks simmered in their own juices with carrots, celery and onions ~or~ Wrapped Red Snapper Roasted red snapper with calamata olives, capers, onions touch of white wine in parchment Wine: Guado Al Tasso 2003 Panna Cotta with Raspberries Wine: Capitelli Alselmi To reserve, call 504-586-1414, or e-mail reserve@ristorantecarmelo.com ![]() ![]() ![]() Ristorante Carmelo.
