(I don't usually write like this, but something about Antoine's makes me do it that way.) It's a six-course feast with a collection of major Champagnes. Some of them are rarely seen; others are familiar and wonderful. The dinner is a substantial $150 per person inclusive, but Champagne lovers will know that this will wind up being a bargain anyway. Here's the menu: Canape St. Antoine (with a crabmeat in bechamel topping) Canape Balthazar (chopped oysters, herbs, and bread crumbs) Bollinger Special Cuvee Non-Vintage Oysters Rockefeller Mumm's Cremant Non-Vintage Crab Cakes with Horseradish Sauce (A new dish at Antoine's) Taittinger Prestige Rose Non-Vintage Demi Chicken Rochambeau (with bearnaise and a slightly sweet brown sauce) Gossett Grand Millesime Brut 1999 Soft-Shell Crab Amandine Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagnes Brut 1996 Creamed Spinach Soufflee Potatoes Peach Melba Piper-Heidsieck Cuvee Sublime, Demi-Sec Coffee The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Reservations should be made by calling Antoine's at 581-4422. © 2006 Tom Fitzmorris.
