By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published November 23, 2005 Click here for the current edition Gerard And Eveline Crozier Quit Chateaubriand I have not been able to contact personally Gerard and Eveline Crozier, the proprietors of Chateaubriand Steakhouse But several mutual friends have, and they all report the same news: the Lyons-born couple has thrown in the towel on the restaurant. The water was deep there, and the hurricane is the latest in a string of misfortunes suffered by that very good restaurant since the day it opened. However, I will believe it's gone for good when it becomes something else. And I will not believe that Gerard Crozier has retired permanently from the restaurant business until I stand before his coffin. He's still the best French chef in New Orleans, and too many people want him back for him to be able to ignore the demand for his services. I hope. © 2005 Tom Fitzmorris.
