Dominique's To Return Today
Dominique Macquet wasted no time after the storm. As soon as it was clear that he would not be able to reopen his restaurant in the Maison Dupuy Hotel on Burgundy at Toulouse (which sustained significant damage), he moved much of his staff and himself to Houston. There he opened another restaurant with much the same Caribbean-inspired menu he had here. Frankly, that looked at the time like a permanent move. . . but, as has been the case with so many restaurateurs, the chef observed that there was hope for New Orleans after all. So he will return to pick up where he left off this Thursday. Dominique's is an excellent restaurant, but just as welcome will be Dominique's infectious enthusiasm. He promotes himself and the city well, and we need more guys like that. Welcome back! 1001 Toulouse, 522-8800.
