Brunch With Me And Bigger Media Stars

This Sunday is the fifteenth annual Feast With The Stars, a delightful event put on in Gallier Hall. It's a brunch, allegedly--although a great deal of not-so-brunchy food is out there. And an enormous range of desserts.

In the early years of the event, there was a theme: all the restaurants were in hotels. They've moved away from that exclusivity, although m,any hotels still take part. Some of the restaurants are Andrea’s, Astor Crowne Plaza, Bayona, Begue’s, Hilton Riverside, the Marriott, the Royal Orleans, Santa Fe, Savvy Gourmet, 7 on Fulton, The Columns, Table One, and the Windsor Court. Lots of food and drink.

It's a benefit for the Parkway Partners, the volunteer and fundraising group which helps the Parkway and Park Commission keep neutral grounds, pocket parks, and other greenery around New Orleans looking good.

That's a big order right now, of course. Hundreds of trees were lost to the storm, and the Parkway Partners are trying to fix that. We won't get anywhere if the city looks awful.

The "stars" are mostly media celebrities. Many of them have been coming to this for years--notably Dan Milham, Margaret Orr, Bob Breck, Martin Covert, and Norman Robinson. This will by my tenth year at the Feast With The Stars, and I always look forward to it. (I'll be a bartender this year.)

The price is $65 per person. It begins at 11:30, with live music, a silent auction, and enough tables so that you'll be able to sit down and eat. Tickets can be bought at the door. See you there?
