More Options For Friday Before Christmas

Many restaurants that we relied on for celebratory lunches during the holidays have not yet returned to serving the noon meal. But the demand is so great this time of year, particularly on Fridays, that quite a few places have decided to pull it together and serve on those days.

The award for the most complicated such schedule goes to Antoine's (713 St. Louis, 581-4422), which will be open for both lunch and dinner on these dates: December 21, 22, 24, 29, and 31. Note that this means they'll be open for both lunch and dinner on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, which fall on Sundays.

Arnaud's (813  Bienville, 523-5433) has not opened for lunch at all since the storm (unless you count their great Sunday brunch). But they will be for the Fridays before Christmas. That's always terrific--people show up with costumes, sing along with Christmas carols, and otherwise enjoy. They'll have the Reveillon menu available for both those lunches.

Right across the street from Arnaud's, GW Fins (808 Bienville, 581-3467) also will be open this Friday for lunch, a meal they do not ordinarily serve.

If you're looking for other otions, think about calling normally non-lunch restaurants. I suspect there are more where these came from.
