Archived Article By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published January 1, 2007 Click here for the current edition Fury's On Vacation--And Probably Some Other Places, Too John Fury called me this morning to tell me that his fine little neighborhood seafood restaurant, Fury's (724 Martin Behrman Ave., 834-5646), will close for vacation starting December 30, and will reopen January 8. He says that he decided that it would be best if his whole staff took a vacation at the same time, because employees are in such short supply that it would make it nearly impossible to operate if even one is out. I'll bet that other smaller restaurants will do this, too, and for the same reason. I bring this up because I can hear the phone calls now: "Cafe De La Food is closed! What happened!" Nothing, is likely to be the answer. Of course, this won't happen in the French Quarter, which is cranking up for a big week next week, with the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday and lots of people coming in. © 2006 Tom Fitzmorris.
