That's once again the only location, since the branch they opened in Biloxi was completely washed away by Hurricane Katrina. So this Thursday they'll be back in business for the first time since the storm. The hours for now will be noon till eight in the evening, Wednesdays through Sundays. "We hope that doesn't last long," Pelliteri told me. "We have a lot of long-time employees who have come back, but it's still about thirty percent of what we had. We're pretty sure the customers will be there." As for the Reveillon, the Gumbo Shop's Christmastime menu will be more or less as it's been in past years. The only thing missing, they say, will be the crab cake entree, but there's plenty more to choose from. The $22 price, which covers the entire meal from gumbo to cafe brulot, has always been the Reveillon lowball, although you'd never know that to have the dinner. I like the duck and the stuffed chicken. © 2005 Tom Fitzmorris. All rights reserved. news@nomenu.com |
