Restaurants Will Do Half-Trillion
The National Restaurant Association comes out with a projection for the future of the restaurant business every year at this time, and its guesses are usually close to accurate. They say now that, for the first time, sales in all restaurants will top $500 billion next year. That's half a trillion. It's about a five percent increase over this year. They also restate something that's been true for some time: that the restaurant business is the largest emplyer in the private sector, with twelve and a half million employees at 925,000 restaurants around the country. How will we ever be able to try them all?
