By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published June 1, 2009 Nation's Restaurant News's Annual List Herbsaint Makes Fine Dining Hall Of Fame Herbsaint, the French-inspired bistro on St. Charles Avenue in the Arts District, has been named to the Fine Dining Hall of Fame. That's a list of ten restaurants compiled every year by Nation's Restaurant News, the leading American restaurant industry magazine. So this is a serious, meaningful award. Herbsaint is owned by Chef Donald Link, who opened the restaurant with co-owner Susan Spicer in 1996. Link has been expending his franchise lately with the Cajun-boucherie-style restaurant Cochon and a couple of related outlets. Herbsaint is in very good company in receiving this award. Among the other restaurants chosen this year are Bouley in New York City, Michael Mina in Las Vegas, and the Slanted Door in San Francisco. Alice Waters, the groundbreaking owner of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, was named the 2009 Fine Dining Legend. Congratulations to Chef Donald! That's showing them that we're not just about red beans, fried chicken, and poor boys! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Herbsaint. CBD: 701 St. Charles Ave.. 504-524-4114. French. © 2009 Tom Fitzmorris.
