One of them volunteered to be the chef. They took over the Lower Garden District restaurant space formerly occupied by Antoinette and Sugar Magnolia, and last night opened it as a new contemporary Creole bistro. They expanded beyond the narrow room that limited the previous restaurants here, so this will be a more spacious restaurant than you remember. It's dinner only now, but they picked a good day to close: Tuesday, which means that they will help supply a much-needed resource on Sundays and Mondays. Here's the menu, which Corrington promises will be in a state of constant flux: Appetizers Fried Green Tomatoes With Crawfish Hollandaise 7 Foie Gras With Gorgonzola Cheese, Caramelized Apples and Walnuts 10 Shrimp and Andouille Stuffed in Napa Cabbage 7 Seafood Timbale With Dill Cream and Salmon Roe 7 Tuna Tartar With Avocado, Tobiko and Cilantro 7 Escargot With Proscuitto, Portabellos in a Cream Sauce over a Risotto Cake 8 Soup du Jour 6 Salads Mixed Greens With Fresh Tarragon, Grapes, and Stilton Cheese 7 Field Greens With Candied Pecans and Raspberry Vinaigrette 7 Baby Spinach With Gorgonzola and Hot Bacon Vinaigrette 7 Hearts of Romaine With Fresh Caesar Dressing and Shaved Parmesan 7 Entrees Center Cut Filet Mignon With Blood Orange Pepper Glaze 28 Veal Medallions over a Mushroom Frittata With Lump Crabmeat Hollandaise 24 Double Cut Chop With Roasted Red Pepper Aioli and Port Cranberry Glaze 24 Steamed Chicken Breast Roulade With Proscuitto, Walnuts, and Currants 15 Grilled Shrimp over Cheddar Jalapeno Polenta With Baja Sauce 19 Herb Crusted Trout Grilled and Served over Vegetable Mirepoix and Lemon Cream 23 Sesame Seed Crusted Tuna With Lime Wasabi Mayonnaise 23 Oven Roasted Vegetables Stuffed With Grilled Tofu and Spinach 14 Desserts Orange Caramel Bread Pudding 5 Fresh Fruit Compote With Champagne Whipped Cream 5 Molten Chocolate Decadence Cake 5 Pecan Dolce De Leche Pie 5 Sounds good, and I like the prices. And, as I've noted before, the fact that brand-new restaurants of some substance continue to open is a convincing sign of the health of the local restaurant economy.
