Jazz (And Food) On The Bayou

Jazz piano great and gourmet Ronnie Kole, who never stops doing nice things for other people, is once again staging a spectacular party at his Chateau Kole on Bayou Liberty in Slidell. Saturday, April 1, he and a bunch of his musician and chef friends will serve up an afternoon of pleasure for the benefit of Easter Seals, which gives essential aid to people with all kinds of physical disabilities.

This is the fourteenth go-round for this event, which has raised almost a million dollars. It's always a lot of fun. Among the chefs and restaurants who will be there are Paul Prudhomme and Paul Miller from K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen, Chef Chris Kerageorgiou from La Provence, Michael’s in Slidell, Andrea Apuzzo of Andrea’s, Frank and Tommy Wong of Trey Yuen, John Besh of The Besh Steakhouse, Patton’s at the Salmen-Fritchie House, Jay Dunaway of Dunaway's, The Bombay Club, Bealer's, Assunta's, LA Pines, the Bon Ton Cafe, and quite a few others. Desserts will come from the superb pastry kitchen of the Royal Sonesta Hotel, and wines from Heritage House.

It starts at three in the afternoon and goes till seven, with non-stop music under the trees and along the bayou.

Music will be provided by the Storyville Stompers, Bobby Ohler and the Harbor Band, and Ronnie Kole his own self. They're going to have an auction whose prizes include various hotel stays in first-class properties around the country, celebrity wine dinners, fashion accessories by local designers,  sports items and tickets, original art, dinners at some 30 local restaurants, and a pair of high-end cruises.

Ticket prices are $85 per person. For reservations and additional information call Brenda Stroupe at 281-883-7193. More info can be found at www.jazzonthebayou.com.
