Mosca's Reopens

After months of repair and additions, Mosca's reopened this past Tuesday. Additions? Yes: they've built on a new dining room, the first major change to the restaurant practically since the place opened in the 1940s.

However, little else has changed. It still has that roadhouse look, both in its frame structure and it's location in an isolated spot on Highway 90 in Waggaman. You still must bring cash. The Tuesday-through-Saturday dinner hours are the same as before. And while I haven't been there to check the food, I almost don't need to. The sun would rise in the west before any significant changes were made to Mama Mosca's great old recipes.

Not that I'm not looking forward to getting there for some Italian oysters, chicken alla grande, and spaghetti bordelaise. Mosca's is one of a kind, and its simple menu never fails to please anyone whose major interest is in eating delicious food.

Mosca's was closed for its annual August vacation when the hurricane hit. They had some damage to the building, but I don't think it flooded. Another milestone is passed! 4137 U.S. 90, 436-9942.
