New Restaurant At The Myrtles Plantation
I heard this morning from Scott Varnedoe, who built the original menu at Marigny Brasserie, went to Fairhope, Alabama to open his own place, came back to Marigny, and now is leaving again. Agh! Great chef, we'll miss him. On the other hand, those of us who are in Baton Rouge will be pleased to hear about what he's doing. Scott says:

My family and I evacuated from Slidell to my wife's home town of New Roads and have permanently relocated. At The Myrtles Plantation, I am opening my own restaurant, Varnedoe's Carriage House. It will replace The OxBow at the plantation property in St. Francisville. Tentative opening date is November 18. The food will be similar to what I cooked at Marigny Brasserie, with more New Orleans decor and casual atmosphere. I will serve lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays and Sunday brunch. We have two small children, we lost our house, etc.  But we're safe, we're together, and we're happy. I'd love to see my old customers from New Orleans. Best of luck to  you and hope to see you soon.
