Near-Reveillon Dinners

The Reveillon was the creation of the French Quarter Festival organization, which organizes the promotion of it. However, it's success has encouraged many restaurants to offer special holiday menus outside that framework. I'll post a few of those over the next few days.

The first is a scaled-down version of an Eat Club menu Nardo's made up for us. The dinner is $38. They'll pair wines with it for another $8. Here's the menu:

Eggplant Napoleon
With fresh mozzarella, and white bean and duck cassoulet
Wine: Luigi Einaudi Dolcetto d’Alba
* * *
Marinated Roast Saddle of Venison
With Bing Cherry Sauce
Wine: Brancaia
or
Seared Dover Sole
With lobster sauce
Wine: Le Bruniche Chardonnay di Toscana
* * *
Sabayon with Berries
Wine: Nivoli Moscato d’Asti

Nardo's Trattoria. 6078 Laurel. 895-9441.
