By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published October 22, 2007 Thursday, Oct. 25 Nickel & Nickel Dinner At Keith Young's Nickel & Nickel--a winery in Napa best known for its spectacular late-harvest dessert wine, Dolce--is presenting an unusually ambitious wine dinner this Thursday at Keith Young's Steakhouse. The dinner will be in the restaurant's handsome wine room, a recent addition to the tree-surrounded establishment on the norther edge of Madisonville. The menu is so extensive and the wines so distinguished that it will require a bit of preparation for your appetite. It's not often you see a dinner that follows a double-cut lamb chop with a filet mignon. Nickel & Nickel is a spinoff of the ancient and excellent Far Niente Winery, also in Napa. All of the wines are single-vineyard productions from prime lands around Oakville. Here's the menu: Crabmeat Imperial Barbecue Shrimp Wine: Nickel & Nickel Searby Vineyard Chardonnay 2005 Grilled Lobster Tail With a saffron butter sauce Wine: Nickel & Nickel Medina Vineyard Chardonnay 2005 Field Greens Tossed with blue cheese vinaigrette Grilled Double-Cut Lamb Chop With fresh herb glaze and tomato a la Provencale Wine: Nickel & Nickel Dyer Vineyard Syrah 2005 Grilled Filet Mignon With gratin of sweet potato and apples Wine: Nickel & Nickel Sullenger Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Fresh Peach Cobbler Infused with star anise Wine: Dolce Late Harvest 2003 The price for this enormous dinner of premium products is $100, plus tax and tip--so, really, around $130 per person.
