Son of Mike's On The Avenue
Vicky Bayley, one of the most stylish and original of New Orleans restaurateurs, is back again. After selling Artesia in Abita Springs a few months ago, she got back with Mike Fennelly, the chef from her first big restaurant Mike's on the Avenue. Mike, as always, had some highly innovative ideas, this time influenced by the recent years he's spent in Hawaii. (He still lives there.)

What they came up was an Asian-Polynesian tapas restaurant called Ohi'a. (Pronounced oh-HEE-ah, it's the name of a tree that produces a red flower that the people on the Big Island consider their floral signature.) The new restaurant took over what had been the Lee Circle Restaurant, right there on the circle in Hotel Le Cirque.

The chef on the scene is North Shore resident Colin Smith, a Johnson and Wales graduate (that's the school Emeril went to) who's made the rounds of great restaurants around the country. 2 Lee Circle (in Hotel Le Cirque). 528-2203.
