Horst Pfeifer Returns To His Roots, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Oktoberfest At Middendorf's

Chef Horst Pfeifer, whose name alone tells us that he was born in Germany, used to have Oktoberfest specials now and then at his now-gone Bella Luna. Although his current restaurant Middendorf's is more about fried and boiled seafood than anything else, he and his wife Karen figured that the place has a German name, so why not celebrate a little.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, Middendorf's menu will feature German specials: sauerbraten, schnitzels, sauerkraut, spaetzle, kassler rippchen, and whatever else the chef decides to recall from his youth. The regular menu of thin and thick fried catfish and all the rest will be there too, of course.

Because they started a little late with it, the Oktoberfest will run through November 13. (That's not as nuts as it sounds. In Munich, most of Oktoberfest takes place in September.) They have more about this, including the schedule of specials, on the restaurant's website.
