Palace Cafe Changes Schedule, But Still Returns Next Week
The Palace Cafe, Dickie Brennan's flagship restaurant in the old Werlein's building on Canal Street, reopens next week, but on a slightly different schedule than we reported here last week. The reopening day will be Tuesday, December 27 for lunch. They'll begin dinner service on December 30. After that, the schedule will be lunch Tuesdays through Fridays and Sundays, and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. The lunch on Sunday will have some brunch items, but will be less brunchy than before.

This means that the Palace Cafe will be open for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Which is a welcome new resource for those days. Indeed, New Year's Day--which initially looked like a sparse day for dining out--will find quite a few restaurants open. The menu they sent me seems to include most of the dishes that they had been running before you know what. Darin Nesbit remains the executive chef.

The Palace Cafe is at 605 Canal Street. They take reservations at 523-1661.
