Owners, Chefs Of Dakota And Cuvee Are Partners
Rambla, Spanish Tapas
Restaurant, Opens In CBD

The flavor of Spanish cooking seems to be catching on. Another new addition to the Iberian scene here in New Orleans opened Monday, October 6 in the International House Hotel, corner Camp and Gravier in the Central Business District.

And it goes beyond Spanish cooking to include dishes from the distinctive Basque cuisine, too.

It's named Rambla, after the busy market street in Barcelona. The owners are Ken Lacour and Kim Kringlie, who founded the five-star Dakota restaurant in Covington in 1991. They later opened Cuvee in downtown New Orleans. Bob Iacovone, who has been the chef at Cuvee for the past several years, is also a partner in Rambla.

The restaurant took over the space where the downtown edition of the Lemon Grass Cafe was before Hurricane K. The hard-edged design has been reworked into a more rustic, but handsome restaurant.

There's been a buzz about this place for the past several months. Of course, it's too soon to dine there unless you can overlook new-restaurant problems.

Rambla. CBD: 221 Camp. 504-587-7720. Spanish. Basque.
