By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published August 10, 2006 Click here for the current edition Rodney Strong Wine Dinner At Galatoire's David Gooch, the long-time manager at Galatoire's, is hosting a wine dinner on Tuesday, August 22 featuring the wines of Rodney Strong, a long-running producer of moderately-priced wines in Sonoma County. Although the dinner is without the "Symmetry Meritage", it does have the very good single-vineyard "Alexander's Crown" Cabernet. Here's the menu: Avocado Vichyssoise With Poached Louisiana Shrimp Rodney Strong “Charlotte’s Home” Sauvignon Blanc 2005 Crabmeat Maison with Roasted Red Beet Tartar Sauce Rodney Strong “Chalk Hill” Chardonnay 2004 Duck Confit Over Smashed Parsnips, Bittersweet Orange Sauce Rodney Strong “Jane’s Vineyard” Reserve Pinot Noir 2003 Pork Noisettes, Cauliflower Puree, Sun-Dried Cherry and Bacon Pork Jus Rodney Strong “Alexander Crown” Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Pear and Goat Cheese Tart The dinner is $85 inclusive of tax, tip, and wines.
