They offer a four-course dinner for $25 every night, from the hand of the talented Chef Chris Brown. (He used to be at the Metro Bistro, then Pampy's.) Wine pairings are available for an additional $20. But here's the grabber: if you empty the glass, they refill it, at no additional cost. While the prospect of unlimited wine has limited appeal to me, there are two aspects of this I find very appealing. First, there is no possibility of skimpy pours in the wine package. That's a problem that I find too frequently with these wine pairing offers. Second, $20 per person for five wines is nothing but a bargain, almost regardless of which wines are poured. And the wines they're offering are not bad at all. Here's a menu they're running right now: Aperitif: Champama (Sparkling wine with a splash of pomegranate juice) Crawfish Beignets with zesty sauce remoulade Pierre Sparr Riesling Reserve Soup of Oysters Veloute, finished with crispy fried oysters Dry Creek Fume Blanc Red Bean Cassoulet studded with duck confit and duck sausage Chappellet Mountain Cuvee (meritage red) Sweet Potato Crème Brulee Nicholas Feuillate Brut Roux Bistro is on the mezzanine above the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel. They're open for all meals all the time, but this tasting menu is available in the evening. 595-5506. © 2006 Tom Fitzmorris. All rights reserved. news@nomenu.com |
