Archived Article By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published April , 2007 Swap Yesterday, a reader informed me that one of the restaurants listed in the New Orleans Menu Daily Restaurant Index is no longer open: Nacho Mama's in Metairie. In the same message, she told me that the location is now Vietnam Cuisine. I checked all that out to make sure it was true, and it was. I made the swap. Then a thought came into my mind: This is like normal times. This isn't like it was a year ago, when it pained me to hear of a restaurant's closing, and when the former location would probably just sit there awhile. Now we have more restaurants than we had before the storm, and when one place closes another opens. Thus it shall ever be. A search I did on the Web a few days ago turned up a discussion on my old messageboard in which I noted that we were 100 restaurants away from a full house. A responder said that within a year a hundred of those would be closed. I can't wait to write that moron this November with the true statistics.
