Dine With Gerard Maras, Help City Park

Today (Wednesday), Table One offers another in its monthly series of dinners benefitting various local public organizations. No special menu, no extra cost--all you do is show up and dig into the food of Chef Gerard Maras (formerly of Ralph's on the Park, Gerard's Downtown, and Mr. B's, among other rstaurants).

You do that at lunch or dinner on February 28, and the restaurant will kick in twenty percent of what you spend to City Park. Which, as you know if you've been there, took a heavy toll from the storm, suffering not only from major levee breaks after the storm on both sides, but from its own early, smaller overflow from the Orleans Avenue Canal that runs alongside its western perimeter.

Lots of trees were damaged (although few of the biggest old oaks), and large parts of the Park remain closed.

In addition to helping the cause, you get a chance to win two free tickets to this year's Celebration in the Oaks Preview Party, in November. A spiffy affair, that.

Again, the regular menu and prices are in effect, so you won't spend a nickel more to help City Park. You will enjoy a better meal than you probably would otherwise that night. Gerard Maras has always been one of the city's most original chefs.
