Venezia Reopens On North Carrollton

It must be Mardi Gras that's triggering this sudden flurry of reopenings, but hallelujah! Restaurants for which people have been waiting eagerly keep on coming. Venezia, the long-running neighborhood Italian and pizza restaurant on Carrollton just off Canal fired up its ovens again on Wednesday. Venezia has been operating a smaller restaurant in the former Alonso's in old Jefferson (and will continue to do so). But lots of people wanted the old original place back. They got it, along with the very basic menu of Italian dishes flowing with sweet, smooth red sauce. amd the seafood dishes.

The very deep flood waters Venezia experienced forced a total renovation of the restaurant, which was long overdue anyway. The only remaining major hole in the Mid-City restaurant community now is Christian's.
