By Tom Fitzmorris Originally published June 1, 2007 200 Beers To Be Tasted--By You For the twenty-fourth time, WYES-TV will hold its International Beer Tasting this weekend. The ticket gives you access to two hundred beers from all over the place, including close to home. That's enough to attract the local contingent of beer aficionados, who don't make nearly as much noise as the wine buffs (mainly because there aren't so many of them), but who probably exceed wine drinkers in their enthusiasm for their favorite kind of quaff. If you ever wanted to learn more about beer, this is the place to do it. Of course, you could just do it for fun, too. This year's Beer Tasting is from six till eight this Saturday, June 2, at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive in the Warehouse District--a nice space for such things. They'll also have food available for sale for between one and four dollars, from pretzels to crab cakes to jambalaya and meat pies. Tickets can be had as inexpensively as $25 per person, when bought in advance in groups of six or more. Single tickets in advance (from WYES, 111 Veterans, second floor, and at Martin Wine Cellar) are $30. At the door, they're $40. Don't bring the kids. They're not allowed. © 2007 Tom Fitzmorris.
