Champagne Tasting This Sunday
Celebrates WYES-TV's Fiftieth Birthday

WYES, the public television station in New Orleans, marks its fiftieth anniversary this Sunday. That's a happy occasion, but other aspects of Channel Twelve are not. They're still as much as two years away from moving back into their braodcast facility near City Park, which was devastated by flood waters after the storm.

They keep on going, however. And they always put on a great party. This one is a tasting of more than a dozen Champagnes, along with hors d'oeuvres and desserts, in the very handsome Club 527--in the Harrah's Hotel (not the casino, but the hotel, on Poydras Street.)

The best of the Champagnes are Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label and Rose, Moet & Chandon White Star, and Pommery Brut and Brut Rose. Sparklers from California, Italy, Spain and Australia will also be there.

The WYES Champagne tasting is this Sunday, March 11, 3-5:30 p.m. The admission is $50 per person. You can nail tickets down by calling 486-5511.
