Avery's Po-Boys 504-821-4110 Mid-City 2510 Tulane Avenue New Orleans, LA 70119 www.averysontulane.com on facebook.com but i have a tip on a great little hole-in-the-wall that makes a great dark-roux gumbo with decent-sized fresh shrimp, crab and oysters - averys on tulane. its run by a husband (cook) and wife (front of house) team and their gumbo is excellent. i think it should replace liuzzas on your 500 best bites. (they also have some interesting po-boys like their oyster rockefeller and their buffalo shrimp ones.) they remind me of the old ugelsichs; a funky place where you can get blue-collar food but might also find a dish that you would normally see in high-end places - like that gumbo or the $6(!) shrimp ceviche appetizer i got a couple of weeks back (see attached photo). and here is their website: averysontulane.com just a tip from a loyal reader to take as you wish...
