wanted to drop you a line on a new Italian deli/sandwich shop on South Carrollton about one block riverside of Oak. The guy gets his bagels and Italian bread from The Bronx (he’s from New York City). He said he’s selling out bagels almost every day. They do a morning coffee/bagel thing for $4.00, and the prices for the sandwiches were ridiculous at $9.00 - $11.00. They had some plate lunches for $10-12, and the red sauce was delicious and not really like most of the ones you get here in town. I know it’s new, but if you’re uptown, it’s probably worth stopping by as they also have a deli counter with some marinated olives, sopresetta, capicola, genoa salami, fontal cheese and such. I had the Chicken Caprese sandwich which consisted of grilled chicken, mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes on an Italian Baguette along with a side of meatballs and Italian bread to sample. I searched NOMENU before shooting you the email to make sure it wasn’t already covered by anyone on the site, and it came up with no. He also told me they’d be starting dinner service pretty soon on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. The giant red, white and green flag caught my attention the other day, and I told him that’s why I wanted to try it. He said that’s the best investment he’s ever made. Thanks, happy new year, and I hope all is well.
